Weekly Update and Bulletin From Fr. Robert Miclean – June 16, 2019

Blessings of the Feast!  All that Christ God became incarnate to give to us in order to save us has been fulfilled by the descent of the Holy Spirit, whom Christ promised would “lead us into all Truth.” (Jn. 16:13)  Christ is that Truth, the Word of God incarnate, the God-Man.  By the descent of the Holy Spirit we are given the opportunity to know Him who is the truth, to be truly illumined.  Through the descent of the Holy Spirit, Christ’s presence is made known to mankind through the voice of the Apostles who have been themselves transformed by the Holy Spirit, having received “power from on high.” This same power is now accessible to all through Christ’s Church, as was prophesied and as we heard in the Old Testament readings for Vespers of the Feast: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezek. 36:26). By the work of the Holy Spirit through the Church, we are baptized and chrismated, we “put on Christ” (Gal. 3:27), and become part of the “new creation” (I Cor. 5:17) through new birth by water and the spirit (John 3), as we live out our faith in cooperation with the Holy Spirit.  Life in the Spirit, the awakening of new birth, the growth in holiness and enlightenment, the power to proclaim the Good News of salvation through our words and deeds, is not some relic of the Church’s Apostolic past; it is the gift of the seal of the Holy Spirit for us today.  If we are willingto cooperate with the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, He will work in us and through us, to bring the Gospel to bear on our own lives, and also to make us beacons of His light, truth, and love in a world held in darkness.                       Jesus Christ bless you!  Fr. Robert+

2019 Pledges/Commitments.  We give back a “first fruits” pledge to Christ from what He’s so mercifully given and entrusted to us.  Everything we have is a gracious gift from God.  Let us be as those servants who used their talentswisely and to God’s glory (Matt. 25:23).  If you have not done so yet, please offer your pledge of talents today.  To grow in faith and grow our Mission “in spirit and in numbers,” please give generously and faithfully. (II Cor. 9:7).
