Weekly Update and Bulletin From Fr. Robert Miclean – February 7, 2016

Our first Sunday in our new church home. God is faithful and is at work in us and through us to His glory. We’ve been given an opportunity to grow our church, engage in outreach and evangelism in the heart of Annapolis, to be a beacon of hope and new life in Christ for all those seeking the fullness of the life who is the Life of all. As we give thanksgiving to God, we look forward to the families and individuals we’ll add to our church family. As we pray to grow “in spirit and in numbers,” we do well to remember that we are the Body of the Church. The extent to which we are faithfully striving to follow Christ and His Gospel commandments and live out and share our faith, the extent to which we build up our own community in faith and love, fellowship with one another, and prioritize the life in Christ in His Church, will directly correlate to the growth we see in this Mission. If people see Christ in us, they will be drawn likewise to the light and truth of new life in Him. To this point, I encourage you to redouble your efforts to be faithful in your daily prayers, to come earlier for Divine services, to stay for trapeza (coffee hour), and, most importantly, to live out your faith in repentance in all that you do and all that you are. If we do so, God will grow this Mission. Christ is in our midst! He is and ever shall be! In Christ God’s love and blessing, Fr. Robert+

Also, there are also furnishings, a door, new entryway, and a sign to install. Please also consider an extra gift and share with your family and friends our $10,000 YouCaring fundraiser so we can accomplish all that we need to in order to make our new church home ready for growth. We’ve raised $1730 so far. Glory to God! May He bless the hands through which He provides!

House Blessings: We invite Christ into our homes to set them aside, to bless them, and pray God to make them places manifesting Christ’s light, peace, truth, and love, harbors in the midst of the storm of the world, places of refuge for our souls. Please contact Fr. Robert with two suggested days and times for a house blessing as soon as possible. He will do his best to accommodate you (n.b., Mondays, his day off, he is generally not available).

Confession and Reception: In keeping with OCA Guidelines, it’s the discipline at Holy Archangels to practice monthly confession. If you wish to receive Communion and a month has passed and you have not made confession for good reason, or are visiting, please talk with Fr. Robert prior to the service and before approaching the Chalice.

Troparion             (Resurrection) Tone 3

Let the heavens rejoice! // Let the earth be glad! // For the Lord has shown strength with His arm.

He has trampled down death by death. // He has become the first born of the dead.

He has delivered us from the depths of hell, // and has granted to the world// great mercy.

Troparion                        (The Meeting of our Lord) Tone 1

Rejoice, O Virgin Theotokos, Full of Grace!

From thee shone the Sun of Righteousness, ^Christ our God,

enlightening those who sat in darkness. // Rejoice and be glad, O righteous Elder,

thou didst accept in thine arms the ^Redeemer of our souls, // Who grants us the Resurrection!

Troparion             (SS Parthenius and Luke) Tone 4

O God of our Fathers, // always act with kindness towards us; // take not Thy mercy from us,

but guide our lives in peace// through the prayers of Thy saints!

Troparion               (Angels) Tone 4

O Commanders of the heavenly hosts, // we who are unworthy beseech you:

by your prayers encompass us beneath the wings of your immaterial glory,

and faithfully preserve us who fall down and cry to you://

Deliver us from all harm, for you are the Commanders of the Powers on high!

Kontakion             (Resurrection) Tone 3

On this day Thou didst rise from the tomb, O Merciful One, // leading us from the gates of death.

On this day Adam exults as Eve rejoices; // with the Prophets and Patriarchs//

they unceasingly praise the divine majesty of Thy power.

Kontakion                        (The Meeting of our Lord) Tone 1

By Thy Nativity Thou didst sanctify the Virgin’s womb

and didst bless Simeon’s hands, O Christ God. // Now Thou hast come and saved us through love.

Grant peace to all Orthodox Christians, // O only Lover of Man!

Kontakion            (Angels) Tone 2

Commanders of God’s armies //and ministers of the divine glory,//princes of the bodiless Angels

and guides of mankind;//ask for what is good for us, and for great mercy,//

O Supreme Commanders of the Bodiless Hosts.
